NWA 2196, carbonaceous chondrite
This is a beautiful meteorite we obtained from Dean Bessey back in 2002. Dean sold a cut stone to us (100.38 grams + 24 grams), and another small fragment went to Canadian collector David Gregory. We submitted the 24 gram end cut for analysis, and the main mass remains as pictured.
It’s classified as a CR2, S1, W5, but its texture suggests that it’s a CV3…or possibly something else. It’s not a CR2.
