Tishomingo, Ungrouped Iron
The Tishomingo meteorite is a Ni-rich ataxite that displays a unique, almost microscopic structure. When found, it consisted of a massive 260 kilogram meteorite broken into four pieces. I can’t add much to Buchwald’s thorough description of the meteorite. It was classified as ungrouped due to its unique structure, despite compositional similarities to the IVBs.
