Camp Wood, Texas Here are some photos from our trip to pick up Camp Wood, a 326 lb. iron meteorite from a town of the same name, near San Antonio, Texas. We took our time on the drive back, and found a few more meteorites along the way. June 2006. First stop: the Alamo! It sat there for some 40 years… Sorry, no photos of actually moving it. Everyone’s hands were full.. Main street again. White Sands, New Mexico. Do I see another meteorite hunter on the list? One of the trip’s two finds. The other stone looked funny. It turned out to be a lodranite! Flipped. The last evening… Camp Wood is currently on display in UCLA’s Meteorite Gallery.
