Murray, CM2

Murray is a fairly uncommon American carbonaceous chondrite.  It arrived as a small shower of stones at around 1:35 AM on September 20, 1950.  I usually try to include a few resources or papers about meteorites I post on this site, but, as with most carbonaceous chondrites that were seen to fall, a lot of work has been done on this meteorite: there are around 2,300 published references that mention Murray as of 2020, so I’m not really sure where to begin.  Here’s John Horan’s 1953 paper describing the fall and recovery of the first seven kilograms of stones found.  The total mass recovered was ultimately a little over 12 kilograms.
