Quitovac, L5

The story of Quitovac is very similar to those of many other chondrites from the Southwest.  Metal-detecting prospectors near the gold mines of Quitovac kept turning up hot rocks that contained no gold.  They turned out to be meteorites!

A gold prospector from Quitovac contacted us looking to sell more stones from the find.  We met up in San Diego, and…here they are.

Things of note: the 2.8 kilogram stone was a surface find and still has some visible scrapes from impact.  The 400 gram stone is very oriented.
