Trenton, IIIAB
Trenton is a historic American iron first discovered in the 1850s in Wisconsin. Masses of Trenton were initially known simply as the “Wisconsin meteorites.” Back when this iron was discovered, so few meteorites were known that this was an adequate name! Many masses were found over the years, in a very small area. It seems likely that Trenton entered the atmosphere at a high inclination and didn’t create a large strewn field.
This 83.4 gram slice is accompanied by an original Ward’s label and the edge is engraved with 33.13. Ward’s 1904 catalogue listed 3-4 kilograms of Trenton.
