Kerman, R3

Kerman was purchased in 2009 from a German mineral dealer.  The small cut stone came from an old mineral collection with a small box and a hand-written label written over an antique “pyrite” label in pencil.  The label stated that it was found in Iran in the 1970s, near the city of Kerman.  A thin section of the stone was included; “CV3” was etched into the glass.  The price was less per gram than most NWA R-chondrites and the rock does not closely resemble any known NWA R-chondrites, so we assume that the provenance is accurate.
